Gentlemen, I realise the division the 55th falls into requires an east coast organization. I am an Illinois man, but before i sign up for another illinois unit, I want to see if anyone is going to do the 55th. I have dedicated over 10 years of my young life (started at 15 under the guidance of a Doctorate of History) researching this unit. With the possible portrayl of it I cannot pass up any possibility of portraying the men so dear to my heart.

Re: Is there any interest in doing 55th IL?
My great-great-great grandfather Horace Thomas Hickock was in Co. C (from Durand/Rockford, Ill) - from Oct 61' till they mustered out! But at present I can't do any more impressions, although I have though of it at times. I have a copy of his photo taken in Chicago on veteran furlough in 1864 (?). Truly a gallant regiment and worthy of being represented in the field!Regards,

Brett,
I would be interested. What weapons did they carry for the time period; Austrians?

Scott & Micheal,
If you are thinking about attending the Bummers event in Novemeber , consider joining our Foraging Party . We will be representing the 63rd Illinois Co. D out of Mclean Co. Let me know if you are interested.

Re: Is there any interest in doing 55th IL?
The 55th had Enfields after Vickburg... The Lorenzs were gone by Sherman's march. Scott I'd love to see the photo, there are a lot of good ones from that time period, all of them wearing the veteran service stripe as a badge of honor, a lot of commercial sacks too.2

Re: Is there any interest in doing 55th IL?
Brett:
Actually, we have an open slot for a foraging party in the 2nd Division, of which the 55th Illinois was a part. If you are serious about doing this, we need to know as soon as possible. Please contact me off forum at etinohio@msn.com to discuss further. We would love to see you put a group together but would need to go over details with you first.
For those who haven't been there, here is the current registration list.
Thanks guys!ERIC TIPTON
