If my planning is correct, the event should end in the morning hours of Sunday before noon. This should help give me time to make the 60 mile trip to Atlanta by the evening of Sunday as well as possible (likely) 'defunking' operations.

If the above assumption in endtime for the event is incorrect, please let me know if adjustments need to be made.

As of yet, I do not have any plans to carpool to/from the event site. I might rent a car as to be self-sufficient in getting to and from the event once on-ground in Atlanta. If anyone wants to do this or has any other situations that they might need to pool resources with me for the event, please let me know.

I may be flying in as well. It would be good to work out transportation from and back to the airport as I am sure there will be several folks in the same boat as us. We might be able to talk some of those driving to the event into picking us up. If not, a shared rental car is a good option. Thanks for opening up the thread.

Thanks, Herb... This means that I've got to make my goodbyes quick to get back to "Hot-lanta". A shower/hoseoff/jump-in-a-creek would be fine too...

At this point, I plan to rent a small vehicle so to be self-sufficient for transportation. If anyone need to get to Atlanta Airport and your time hack/destination matches mine, please let me know. Perhaps we can work something out...

If you could move your arrival up or your departure back, you could get cleaned up here, see the Stieghan Collection, and see the new National Infantry Museum and the National Civil War Naval Museum in Columbus! I have two bedrooms and a Rec Room with studio couches where you could crash, if you like. Consider this a serious offer.

Howdy,

New/Old Whitey the Wonder Bonneville will be headed back to Marietta, Georgia, and the Atlanta environs after the last whisps of my Preservation Torch have been extinguished.

I will be "defunking" at the home of a long-lost relative after Bummers (two of our ancestors were on The March -- one was captured right off the bat, the other near the end of the event) so I'm pretty sure he would allow another friend or two to shower off. Would at least save you car rental costs.

Depending on when you need to be at the airport, we could visit one of the museums, Cyclorama, etc. Otherwise, I'd drop you off and then continue on to Chick/Chatt or some such out of the way place 8^)

Keep me posted. I'm just beginning to put together a carload of travel companions for the trip, so there's much left to do.

Hope all works out for you -- just another option.

Well, my registration has been sent out. My plans at this point are to fly out of Buffalo, time is flexible, land at Atlanta and drive to the site via a rental. Same for leaving. Not sure yet on flight times, etc. but its a workin process...

If time isn't a factor, why don't you try Space-A into Lawton Field at Fort Benning? I'd pick you up and drop you off. That way you could hose off yourself and your weapon at my place on the way back and save some greenbacks while you are at it. By the way, I have Brasso if you need some!

The offer still stands for you to take your annual winter bath in the creek behind my house and stay in the barn loft Sunday night, if you wish. It's only 5 miles from here to Exit 14 on I-185, and a straight shot north to Hartfield from there. In between longnecks, you can see a little of the Stieghan Collection before you crash and burn.
