Re: Militia Engineers
Go to the link above. I highly reccomend the Scaife and Bragg book "Joe Brown's Pets" for a good overview. After that taking a look at the bibliography is a good way to continue with primary sources.

Re: Militia Engineers
Thanks for the links and all. I actually did a little research into the engineers with what sources I have on hand and was only to find a small reference. Basically in the Bragg/Scaife book they are stating that the GMI cadet corps were made into an "enginner corps" but that was simply a way to protect the boys from regular Confederate service. I am assuming that the engineer company being raised for the event will not be that entity. I do remember reading something about Miltia working with engineers but they were regular CS army and so would not be anything like what is being raised as my knowledge of the CS enigneer corps was made up of mostly officers with laborers of the enslaved persuasion. At it's core it would seem that the militia company for this event is just a regular company designated as "pioneers" like the Federal army tended to do so that you can achieve goals you have set forth for the weekend?
