  • Need Loaner Gear for Friend

    Hello all,
I'm looking for some loaner gear for a friend at Bummers. Although we're not 100% going to be able to make it, this is one of the variables that needs to be solved before we make the 12 hour trek down there. He's a size 38 chest, 32 pants, and 11 1/2 shoes. The only thing he has is drawers, and we will be doing federal with the 76th Ohio. I guess we'll figure out rounds and things later (being in college makes it hard to roll and keep blackpowder) but for now any help with gear would be greatly appreciated. I've tried contacting a few people in the 76th buit to no avail so I thought I'd try a general message. It's getting down to the wire, let me know if you can help out.

I can bring some gear. Accoutrements and a jacket and hat. Pants, not so much. I have (I think) full 'couts for him, minus the cartridge sling. Interested?

      Tim,

I can bring a pair of trousers and a sack coat, if you do decide to come. I will throw them in the car in case.

Thanks for the responses, but it looks like I've found everything I need from Mr. Robinson. I'm not sure about the shoes yet so I'll repost if I need them. Thanks again.

          Tim,

I'm glad to see you are getting into the field. I balanced reenacting with college so don't let that deter you.

          All,

Young Tim undertook Into the Piney Woods as a high school senior, in the midst of a busy time in his life, all while considering a number of outstanding colleges. He's a hardy young man and a good soldier.

I am glad to see fellers stepping up to assist Tim and his bud. We need young folk like Tim in this hobby.

          Regards,
          Fred Baker

            Fred,
So what you are saying is we need young fellows to replace old geezers like myself that in the not too distance future will be found along some dusty trail attracting vultures?

              Tom,

I reckon you have 20-30 years of active service yet and then you can "retire" to a civilian occupation as a part-time cat-house owner and part-time sherrif.

Folks could stand to take a page from your event preparation plan- holding a beer and a Daily Racing Form at the track.

If a fellow was wanting to prepare for Bummers, that would be a good starting point.

Thanks for the encouragement Mr. Baker, it’s given me a new impetus to try and do everything I can to get down there.
