    Re: Directions to Bummers

I am pretty sure a fair amount of construction is going on I-85 between Newnan and I-285. I would suggest I-75. If traffic seems heavy, one could take one of the exits off of I- 75 toward Hwy 85 (note: different than I-85) and head south.

Mark is correct from Fairburn, Ga to Newnan, Ga I-85 has one of the three lanes closed for repairs. In the middle of the day it should not be too bad, but come rush hour. Blah! Plan accordingly

If anyone gets lost or is running late, I would just say don't work, just head in the directing of the large plumes of black smoke and the sounds of hell raising, since Ga is going to be buring again.

I avoid I-75 under most any circumstance. From I-85 in lagrange take Ga Hwy 109. Probably want to eat, stock up, enjoy your final moments of modern life before you leave lagrange, i don't thnk there is much in between.
Google has me exiting at Newnan, not getting anywhere near La Grange. But I hear they have a lot nice girls at that shack outside La Grange.

Ga Hwy 16 from Newnan will work and is straighter but will take more time. I have pulled our 3-horse gooseneck thru that construction. it is edgy but ok. I would choose that over I-75 period.

Actually, there are two different "shack" references there. The "Love Shack" is down the Atlanta highway, don't you know?

                  Re: Directions to Bummers

First of all, I live in Atlanta an have driven I-85 south to Newnan several times the past few months...

STAY OFF I-85 BETWEEN 285 and NEWNAN! There is serious construction there - there is no shoulder as the two lanes that are open are bound by those concrete barriers on both sides. One small wreck and traffic backs up forever.

If you are headed down I-75 south, take I-285 WEST (Birmingham) and just stay on 285 as it loops you back to I-75 just below the ATL airport. You will pass I-85 and be tempted to go that way, but, see above.

It's just a few more miles to I-75 South.

Loop around the WEST side of Atlanta as there is less traffic than going all the way around the north, then the east sides.

If you are headed down I-85 South to ATL, take I-285 around the eastern edge to I-75 South (Macon).

I-20 (wither way) to I-285 and loop south around the southern edge of the city to I-75.

Once you are SOUTH of ATL, you will be in outbound traffic from the city, and on Friday afternoon, evening, it can be a mess. If you can't get through there before about 4:00 - 4:30pm, expect delays.

Watch the electronic reader boards on the main highways for real time info. If you have a wireless laptop or a PDA with internet access, you can get real time traffic and routing at http://www.georgia-navigator.com/

It gets dark here about 6:30pm local time (this is Eastern Standard Time).

Huck -- I read your Mapquest directions and I don't think that I could even get out of the airport following them. They are very confusing!!! Just follow the signs to either I-285 or I-75 South.

Thanks, Mike, that is the kind of local input I was seeking.

Hell Iv'e pulled trailers down that stretch of I-85. So you can pick your poison.

Mike has some of those "love shacks" up in his neighborhood in downtown Atl.
I live about 5 miles north of nowhere.
