  • Recruiting for Company "D", US

I am recruiting a Federal company for ITPW. I was a company commander at BGR, so I speak from experience when I say, this event will tax you both mentally and physically. It will also form a bond between you and the members of our company as well as the rest of the foks that attend this event.

If you missed BGR, DO NOT miss this one! If you are interested in signing up, please contact me at rmmurray@charter.net.

    Gents,

I had not met nor worked with Rob prior to BGR but will state that he is an exceptional fellow and a stout company commander.

There are many good potential homes for those who don the Federal blue. Rob Murray's company will be a darned fine one.

    Regards,
    Fred Baker

I got to know Captain Murray quite well at BGR, alas in a not so pleasant way. I know his affection for the men under his command, his understanding for those "innocents" who may cross his path, and his wraith for those who may stand in his way. He will be a fine commander and even a better possum.

        Rob,

It will be good to work with you again, and again, and again....as my phone bill thusly indicates from the more recent adventures in a variety of states and weather conditions. The bulk of the Columbia Rifles members attending Into the Piney Woods will be signing up for Company D, and we may be able to convince some of our friends in the Potomac Legion and New England Campaigners to make the trek.

Terry Sorchy has already seen to it the boys will be well fed. Okay, well, how about just fed. It is deja vu all over again.

I fell in with a company of guys I didn't really know at BGR and had a great time. We watched out for each other and took care of our own. Damn good company!

          I'm in.

To help in recruiting, I was asked to add the following: Louisiana is all flat land and easy to traverse. It has perfect weather, pretty women, good food, enlightened politicians and all casinos are anxious to share the wealth with visitors. So, which ever side you sign up for, or which ever able commander you wish to serve under, it will be a good experience.:)

And since Rob will likely be the tallest person in blue, he is easy to find in the woods and you can shelter behind him as well. :D

Oh yeah, he is a great leader too...and has done this before.

                Talks kinda funny though...

                  Doug,

Rob is tall, and could easily be mistaken for a tree in the piney woods; He’s bushy up top and... Rob is a dear friend. I served in his company (or squad) at Marmadukes and also at BGR. BGR was one event where everyone in the company watched out for each other and shares a special bond. Attached is the 81st Ill, Co. B at BGR.

The men in that picture are all hardy fellows.

Tom and I look forward to a trek in the tall pines with lads of that caliber.

                      Joe,

Absolutely! No candleshop clerks to bail at the last second, and no butterfingered firemen either!! Hey, has your arse healed up from that ride in the jump seat of a Ford Ranger? Ouch.

Of course the truckpool from The Bunker already filled weeks ago, but do you think we can get Rev. Petey to fire up the minivan with over 400,000 miles on it for a trip to Kisatchie? After all, it made it to TAG2/OP3 and back with just a little vibration here and there from the ailing transaxle! It would be nice to kidnap Brother Yoder in Riner, too.

Maybe we need to get Flunter to fix us up with a larger and newer rental van. I hope to see him at ATB/Slaughter Pen in a few days.

                      Good times.

                        Charles-
I work on them this weekend. Who knows, we may be the biggest little group to ever make the trip over the 'big scary mountains.'

And yes the ass is fine. For those of you who don't realize I crammed my large 52 inch shoulder, power-lifting, rugby playing body into the jump seat of a two door Ford Ranger Pick-Up, from Stuarts Draft, VA to Nachos-and-Cheese, LA!

I rather take Pete's wagon then the Pick-Up!
