Re: Recruiting for Company "D", US

Registration for dis par-tay in Mr. Murray's company is going in the mail tomorrow...

I'll be there, Mr. Murray. Now if I can get the other Akward Mess b'hoys out to this one... Tommy, Bobby, Ryan, Caleb? Your number has been called-out! Get yer registrations in for Mr. Murray's company like we said we were going to at W '64.

Will Mr. Moffett be there for the party?

Mr. Heef/Mr. Ley/All Columbia Rifles... anybody in the Northeast... I'm in for a carpool for this event.

I bought extra vacation time for this event already. Now let's see if fate will cooperate the week of the event.

If this is the "Temperance Regiment" it won't be for long... LOL

Save me some room, ya'll! :p

    All for the Union!

Just bumping this up to the surface. While numbers are looking good, there is still room left to get in under the CAP. I know there are folks out there sitting on their hands. I say, get off of them and get your registrations sent in. You do NOT want to miss this event. This type of event only comes around so often and may not happen again. Heck, I had to wait 12 years for BGR.

While I will not post the company numbers or names, I will publish the list of NCOs we have at this time.

      1st Serg't Joe Smotherman MHBS
      2nd Serg't Joe Beedle 2nd Minnesota
Corp'l Herb Coats (look fast Herb)A.G./WIG
      Corp'l Tim Kirk CVG
      Corp'l Charles Mathis CHAPs
      Corp'l Dan "Bobo" Williams Independent

When the company numbers grow, so will this list. I really believe the company can hit the cap but that will take YOU to get out your money orders, credit cards and keyboards and get registered.

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now and go back to lurking.

I'll re-check the last Torch from Ley. I'm lookin' to make the exodus down to 'Lou-siana' from Sun-Mon. and then Be there live on Tues. followed by Sat-Sun movement back to home.

            J-Ho,

Not much about ITPW in the newsletter, as most of the info is in the mid-month updates and the other listserver emails. Joe wants to go, but without Petey he'll have a fine time finding a ride from Virginia. The gist of it is Will and I need to be on site NLT Sunday evening so as to get the usual crap squared away before the event begins on Monday. We'll leave a trail of bread crumbs for you on I-81. Billy may be looking for a ride, but we don't know if he'll be in Maryland or Kentucky, and the latter will be entirely problematic for a jaunt to Louisiana.

I also see you failed to vote. Ahem.

Never you mind about Kentucky, Charles. I'll be laid off for a while so KY is out of the question at the moment. I'd like to get there early myself. Possibly get some siteseeing in on the way down and/or back. I would drive myself, but I'm trying to take it easy on the car and the wallet. Count me in. Whoever has room, I'm game. Just give me a heads up. Going up to the mill today to steal some lumber and find out the work situation...

                Hilly Billy,

You know they'll call you for an express order of swamp boogie boards the week before we need to leave, but if not....then have your narrow hindparts in the driveway here at The Bunker around 9:00-ish on the morning of Saturday 7 March 09, and we'll take it from there. It will be nice driving I-81 in the daylight for once. Hopefully Will can make it Friday evening, and catch a good night's sleep before we ease out to the big paved road for Louisiana. I sure wish we could get Brother Yoder on board, but one of these days we need to 'splain to him where these chillens are comin' from.

Once we get down to about Abingdon, there's a place where we can get something to eat on the right side of the road. If we could get J-Ho to leave a little early, then the four of us could fit into his happy four door blue Ford truck-thing like we did with the return from Marmaduke's a few months ago. That thing has magical powers as we all ate at a Bob Evans (not an approved vendor) yet none of us fell ill from the food. Magical.

                    J-Ho,

This may be the first time we've accepted a human femur as payment, but times are hard out there, and there is a reason we have a Holstein tail as a gavel, which is now residing in the museum in Elmira. You'll have to corner Sparky or The Quiet Man somewhere to learn that reason, but there it is. Tom has been as silent as Kevin Smith's Silent Bob character, and Salt Pork Bob has been waxing philosphic about walking 10 miles to school in -35 F weather when he was a kid over on the OTB Forum.

I must be in trouble again, for the tall, lanky, ex-NBA star known as Colonel-Major Sorchy wants me to call him later on. I hate to tell him that I still need to call Fred about important stuff, such as oysters, truffles and caviar for the officers.

                      Charles,

Sorchy can subsist on spoiled souse cut with a worn down mule bit. Don't let him talk you into much more.

We can keep a bucket of clabbered milk in the wagon for him in case he needs breakfast of a morning.

I talked with Generalissimo Sorchy today. The result of the conversation was this, Co. G is fast approaching its' "CAP", IF you want to sign up with us, you really need to get your registration in. If you don't get in under the "CAP", you will be placed in one of the other companies that are forming. Not that there is anything wrong with that, (their commanders are first rate) you just won't get your first choice. We are well on our way to a 130 man battalion, lets keep those registrations coming in.

There has been e-mail traffic within the company, if you have registered with us and have not recieved any communication contact me at rmmurray@charter.net

Now back to tending my icicle garden.

                            Brian,

We've got guys from WI, MI, MN, and a good deal of the far northeast states as well. Where are you exactly? That would likely help things out with finding you a ride once you are across the NAFTA line into the US.

We've got 15 men coming from the UK and Europe so surely one Canadian can't be too big an issue.

                              Brian,

Meet up at the Bunker Saturday morning. You remember where it is. First underground house on the left.

Looks like States Rights Tatum, J-Ho Lloyd, Hillybilly Birney, and maybe 1663 Gingras will be congregating here. On the I-81 trail, maybe one or two other friendlies may appear along the way in the form of The Carthagenian and Orange Petey, but Petey may still be building that church in Haiti. Think you can drag Mark or that Chinook driver down there?
