  • To Make our Lives Easier

    Gents,
Were almost upon another season and the same old problems arise. It comes down to the last month and a half before the event and we have the company commanders but they are commanding ghost company's. Holler has 13 registered in his company, Rob Murray has 12, Mike Comer has 2, and Jeremy Powell has 1. If you know you are going but are waiting to pay after the holidays PLEASE put your registration in the mail. Pay when you can after the holidays but lets fill out these company's so we know how many men are coming and what we have to plan for.
At Marmadukes we had 13-15 man company's because of poor communication. Lets not have that be the case at Piney Woods.
Mike Comer and Jeremy Powell NEED men in there company's.
The event will start at dawn on tuesday so you should all plan on being there on site monday night.
    Thank You
    Terry Sorchy

Is there a list somewhere of who has signed up with which companies?

Right now all registrations are going through Fred. Right after xmas I will have a listing I will put up on the AC as far as who has signed up with who's company.

Re: To Make our Lives Easier

        All,

I am off for the holidays at present but will chime in.

A.) to echo what Terry wrote- get off your tails and register.

B.) as far as lists, company commanders (when they request) get a copy of folks registered under their company. To avoid the "who's-who" lists of who is kewl and who isn't we aren't putting registration lists up anywhere. We didn't put one up prior to BGR and we aren't putting one up prior to this one.

C.) comparing registrations received to-date with BGR and IPW, IPW is ahead of the curve. We fielded two battalions, roughly 200 folks counting civilians at BGR and I expect the same or more for this one.

The Ground Hornets sent five lads back east for At High Tide and are glad to see men we met out there sending in registrations.

Tom and I know that we'll have hardy men attending. We had hardy men in 2007 and we'll have another stout crew in 2009.

I've spoken to many fellow who haven't registered. Get them in when you can.

        Happy Holidays all.

        Cordially,
        Fred Baker

Re: To Make our Lives Easier

          Gentlemen,

I'd like to back Terry a little here with some comments.

There is nothing more frustrating that trying to organize a company for an event or the event itself. You have to be equal parts cheerleader, therapist, coach, PR, marketing and socialite. After sending numerous emails, posting to various forums and generally "putting out the word" that you are "raisin' a company", you wait for responses, hoping for confirmed registrations, but mostly getting "Hey, man I'm coming!" It can get rather depressing.

So, please, support your chosen captain and the event and send in your registration as soon as possible. Give the event and the staff adequate notice of your intentions so that they may plan accordingly. While you are thinking "I've got plenty of time", they are thinking "I guess we'll fold into some other company."

I know times are tight, Christmas is straining budgets and some of you just don't know yet if you can attend. But I'm certain there are several who just haven't gotten around to it because they haven't. If that is the case, go here: http://www.intothepineywoods.com/PDF...eywoodsreg.pdf
now and take care of it.

I look forward to seeing all of you in the Piney Woods soon. I'll be the guy in the blue coat and black hat.

Not only that, Joe, but as half of the hardtack bakers I would like to get a general target for how many crackers Rick and I will have to bake.

Right now, if all goes as it did last year, we will do ~1500 each.

We think the petticoat more suitable for them in these times.

              Gents,
I see both sides of the coin here. Cody does have a good point. I have helped folks put on a few events(cough) and it is tricky to cook and do other stuff without hard numbers. I also see Fred's point with the who's cool and who ain't list. It's up to you all. It's you guys sandbox were just gonna play in it. All I know is I am gonna go to Nashville and get with Hicks and we will see you gents when we get there. I can't wait for this one!!!!

I am not calling anyone out for not being registered, because I have not registered yet, but plan to take care of that the first of the month when I got $50 that isn't required somewhere else. I figure folks either know they are going or not, 'cause you have all ready made plans for a week off, and you have begun getting into shape for the event. So, if you are going to join in on the March fun, get the registration in so company commanders can make their big plans, and you can be added to the list for those yummy hardcrackers.

                  Kiev,

God in Heaven, I never thought I'd see another soul say this, and on this festive eve:

                  Merry Crackers!!!

Just a few more aluminum cans down to Eastern Recycling and I can get my registration in the mail..... :p

To all: As Terry says, we need to support each other for this one. Planes, trains and automobiles...and old pards and new pards who lend a hand will get us to the event.

If you are not yet registered, want to go blue, but are having logistics challenges, contact the company commander you are partial to for help.

If you want to go blue but have no preference as to company, send me an e-mail at coop2911@msn.com or PM here. We will help.

                      Company A Men!

To continue this thread I just sent out a message about registration. Use that Christmas money that your dear grandmother gave you to register. I have some information that I would like to send out in the next week or so, I would like Boozie to begin his list of fun, and to make my life easier I would like to have the thirty five that I have said we will get. If you did not get the e-mail I just sent please e-mail me ASAP!

I am missing some e-mail addresses: Rae Whitley, John Harmon, Brett Keen, John Wickett, Taylor Clark and Sean Malis.

Re: To Make our Lives Easier

I have been offered, and have accepted to reprise the position of the Federal Sergeant Major once again for these long walks through the Piney Woods.

Coming out with me this year will be Kiev Thomasson and Herb Coats, both from central Georgia; and both men will be registering for Rob Murray's Company. Joe Smotherman from here in Nashville is also participating once again.

I'm encouraging a few other fellows from the Middle Tennessee area to pitch in, but like so many others, the duration of the event is probablamtic.
