  • For the Confederates

For those of you serving as Confederates we have four companies. A few of which are nearing "full strength." There is still room to join up for those of you of the southern persusation.
Our Commanders are Frank Marek of Texas, Bill Treadway from the west coast, Keith Jackman of the UK, and Charles Tucker from Mississippi. In addition we have Cavalry under Larry Morgan.

Our staff will consist of Sgt. Maj. Adam "OX" Johnson, Gery Barker - wagoner, and a quartermaster who will be named shortly.

This is your chance for a week long event. If you haven't done anything like this before there is nothing like it and will doubtless serve as the pinnacle of your reenacting experience.

For all of you coming get out there and start running, walking and whatever you need to do to get ready. Break in those brogans and start walking with those knapsacks.
Yeah, we have a recession how will you tell your grand-children you spent it?
We've got hot work ahead and another event from Fred and Tom that will be like no other.
If your not registered get registered.

Okie dokie, Frank of the Great North. Where is my Missouri tee shirt! Seriously, Colonel Aufmuth treats his troops with great care and often is known to entertain his men with song and dance.

      Re: For the Confederates

If any of you want to come as Confederates we are cooler the bayou yetti and Tom Yearby are both on our side. Ill have a slab of meat for the Yetti and a T-shirt and jar of cherry bounce for Uncle Tom.

Seriously though and to back up what Terry said in his thread; People work their butts off making these events happen. Despite the most intense efforts of the organizers and battalion staffs there can be no event without the participants. While Mr. Treadway and Mr. Marek's companies still have openings, Keith Jackman of the UK, and Charles Tucker from Mississippi could use some support.
com'on you know you want to. The economy will still be there when you get back.

        Re: For the Confederates

I posted my sermon why folks should attend this event on Terry's thread, so I won't repeat it here. If you want to read it, got there. I just want to say thanks ahead of time to all the folks that have been knee deep it planning and organizing and getting things together for Into the Piney Woods. After it is over I will name names, and give out praise, but fellows, if you miss this one, you will miss a unique opportunity that might not come again until someone else steps up and pushes the bar higher. I have tried to avoid hyping the event 'cause it ain't my style, but if you miss it you just miss it and you can blame yourself for doing so. If a glimpse into real is what you want out of this hobby, then the time is drawing near for you to cross the line and sign up.

And then if you want to see 4 French, 1 Belgian and 10 English in reality, with your eyes, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity... :) :) :)
I joke, but come numerous, it is an event of the most authentic and humanely strengthening, a communion with the history...

                      Hi Fergus,
I hope you have access to fine Haggis and Malt Whisky to celebrate the 250th Birthday of that great Scottish Bard, Rabbie Burns this weekend.
Look forward to sharing a wee dram with you and shooting Yankees.

                          Hi Tom,
Edgar Allen Poe must have been a fan of the Motto of Scotland.

                          Can,t wait until March.

                            Jason,
I use to use that quote. I got it from Poe's story. I didn't know it was the motto of Scotland. I like it! Myself, I am heavy in Scotch-Irish ancestory and knowing what I know of them I fully understand such being a motto of the homeland.

I can't touch Terry's last post for the Federal boys.

Now Tom after your post I saw who my friends were and were not. Mr. Silas shall meet with the fury of my boy Sam. You know the one with the stick guarding those prisoners? There will be no whiskey for him! (Silas)
In respect to J.T. I shall refrain from singing "Bonnie Annie Laurie" but he may be called upon to sing it.
Too bad Smotherman is going Federal. I was hoping there would be even more diversity in my battalion.

So anyway what kind of whiskey goes well with pie?
