Question: I was at the IPW site and was reading about the civilian requirements, and I don't know if I read wrong but does it say that soldiers may be trading or foraging with the civilians? Sounds really cool to me.Just a question that I was interested in. Thanks.

        Re: For the Federals

There's a rumor that Der Baron von Aufmuth will be performing a rain-dance just before the event in hopes of bogging down the Federal advance. Hopefully this rain won't make the Trans-Miss Secesh run like it does the Eastern Secesh.

We will not be trading but "borrowing" goods from the citizens.

Also, who give a fig about the weather! As long as it is warmer than 20 we Iowans will be happy.

                Re: For the Federals

The Trans-Miss Secesh are hardy boys. I don't see any of them folding on account of rain. The Bayou Yeti and the ghost of Dick Taylor will be riding them hard as well and everyone knows Dick gets ornrey when the weather is damp. Brings out all his old aches.

Actually, I doubt anyone will fold on account of weather. If they do it's a good 12-15 miles back to the starting point from most places. Our logistics and medivac crew isn't using gas in those situations.

                  Re: For the Federals

This is one of those events where, once committed, you may as well finish as to give up. Going back will be just as difficult on you as going forward, but at least going forward you are surrounded by friends.

As for weather ... why is this even a question? If it is cold, you will be cold. If it rains, you will get wet. If it is hot, you will sweat. If it is clear and sunny, you will still get wet crossing creeks. If the challenge of the unknown and overcoming the obstacles faced in the field are not something that excites you about this event, then maybe you aren't really a campaigner.

And, for those that didn't attend BGR, Tom and Fred are not trying to hype the endurance test this event presents. The terrain is rugged in some places and there are creeks to cross without a bridge. This event isn't going to be easy ... but then, when has anything worth doing been easy?

That is why I am expecting the Hearty, campaign types on this side of the hobby to step up to the challenge and fill our ranks:baring_te We must act as one for these events boys.
