Thanks for the water report, Tom. Exactly what I was wondering.

Not to hype a vendor, but just to say what I said after BGR, and that was Karin Timour makes fine socks. They are made to fit your foot and tightly knitted. They have saved my feet many times. Bad news, is it is probably too late to get a pair or two from her, but maybe not. Perhaps Karin has a pair laying around for the lucky person in need.

        Re: For the Federals

In The Sinks section there is a new thread about foot care. The last post contains two quotes from publications written during the war by Confederate doctors. Aside from the need to air out feet and socks, one wrote a simple idea that struck home this weekend while wearing new socks on the Kisatchi march: At the noon rest break, switch socks from one foot to the other to put the seams in different places on your feet. Seams plus friction cause blisters, so move the seams around. Why didn't I think of that?

This waiting is starting to remind me of waiting for that tough test in college or a wedding. I cannot stand it! After a year of planning (not much compared to Tom and Fred) I want to be in Louisiana!

              Brian,
I agree with the weather. I was talking to Timothy Arnold tonight and mentioned the other day it got up to 27 degrees. It felt like summer!

If you are looking forward to 40 degrees, you'll scream when I tell you that the ten day forecast for Flora, LA, predicts a high of 72 degrees on Feb. 6.

                  Joe,
Got up this morning & it was 1 above 0. If it gets in the 70's we can roll up our sleeves, take off our hats and start working on the farmer's tan.

                    Re: For the Federals

Try a high of 46 and rain today! That is nasty weather if you are out in it. I rather it be cold and snow on the ground. But, it will be in the 60's and sunny in a couple of days. Lousiana weather changes rapidly, especially in March. In the summer it never changes but remains hot!

                      Re: For the Federals

One good thing about being recently laid off - I can definately find the time to do this event!

It's my first large-scale event like this. Any reccomendations for unit affiliation before I submit registration?

                        Jonathan,

Hate like hell to hear of you getting laid off. Come on over to the Piney Woods though. We'd love to have you.

If you are looking for a home in blue, I'd aim you toward Captain Comer's company. He needs hardy men like you.

Get registered as soon as you can.

                        Kind regards,

How many self-titled campaigners have never been to a campaign event?
                          Good question.

I'll be honest. This weekend I'll be falling in with SCAR at Olustee...and that will be my first time serving with other campaigners. As it is, I'm the only "authentic" member of my mainstream group. I'm sure I have a lot to learn. I plan on learning it.
