  • Lets Go!

    Gents,
Cut off for registration is February 16th.
Right now two company's are full and two need YOUR help. If you wait till the last minute to register for this event or any event it hampers the organizers more then you will ever know. Not just with rations but with company structure.
If you dont have the 50.00 for the registration right now but are saving up and ARE going, then SEND IN your registration form so we KNOW how many folks will be there. That is CRITICAL.
Getting your form in before the deadline is responsible and considerate. Those that wait for the last minute have never had to organize an event.
We need men in Comers Company and Powells. Slots for the other two are FILLED.
If you have friends that want to come bring them.
Lets put together a kick but federal battalion that can work together in the future.
    WE NEED YOU NOW!

    Re: Lets Go!

    All,

Terry is spot-on with his post.

Both battalions, Federal and Confederate, are shaping up nicely. Both will field more men than we took into Banks' Grand Retreat in 2007.

That said, NOW is the time to register. The deadline is rapidly approaching and it's critical that we know how many folks to prepare for.

It's been said time and again but I'll say it once more. This is not an uber-kewl event where you'll be judged, mocked, and sneered at if your jacket isn't from X maker. Do we want the gear to be the best you can get? Yes. Is gear the only thing that matters. Hell no. If what you plan to wear is too far out of line, we'll loan you out what you need.

We have men registered for Piney Woods who last did a campaign-style event in the 90's during the two Red River events Jack King organized. There are many men who lurk on this forum who feel they'll be bashed or judged. You won't be. We need hardy, physically and mentally fit folks. If you meet that description and the event sounds like your cup of tea, sign up.

    Respectfully,
    Fred Baker

      Re: Lets Go!

      Comrades,
In support of what Terry, Fred and others have urged, come and join us!!!!! There are 15 Brits and French who are devoting the time and making the effort to fly the Atlantic so as to be part of this exceptional event. If, as Authentic Campaigners, your ultimate goal is to get as close to what "they" did and feel how "they" felt then, time permitting (always a problem) this gig is a must; it simply doesn't get any better.
      See you in the Kisatchie!!!!!!!!!

        Re: Lets Go!

I can't tell you how excited I am about this event! I'm sure my wife will be glad when its over so I'll shut up about it.

        As has been said before:
This is about the experience, not about the gear! Bring your best stuff, whatever it may be... The event staff is there to work WITH you, not to be a bunch of prissy, hypercritical nit-pickers.

Worried about yoru gear? - We have you covered!
Worried about a ride? - There are several carpools... we can hook you up!
Worried about the "kitchen pass" from the missus? - Valentine's Day is coming... DO THE RIGHT THING! ...and making some headway on your "honey-do" list wouldn't hurt, either. :wink_smil
Worried about time off of work? - Can't help you there...

Just get registered and get down to the Kisatchie!!! You will have a fantastic time and an experience that you won't have the chance to repeat any time in the near future!

Nothing to add here except to agree with Terry about the procrastination with registration. A lot of planning goes into something like this.

I can't say for sure that I will be there due to real life Army requirements. Even if I don't make it, about 1,000 of my hardcrackers will. If Frank can promise me some of his world famous Cherry Bounce, I will do my damnedest to get there.

Does anyone know what the current registrations for the Federal battalion is at, by company?

                  Andrew,
Hollers Company is slotted with 30. Robs has 30. Michaels and Jeremy's need to be rounded out.
Two are full and two need help.

Thanks Terry, that was just what I was looking for, I was trying to get a feel for numbers in my company.

Rob, thanks for providing the website, but I already knew it, since I used it when I registered.

                      Re: Lets Go!

I just wanted you yankee fellows to know that I will be away for awhile and unable to supply you with pithy information concerning the event. I will be residing in Kisatchie so I can commune with the ghost of Tom Green and Richard Taylor and have them ready to greet you all when you enter “their” forest. I will also be consulting with the Bayou Yeti and the Louisiana Loup Garou and passing on any information I might gather to Baron von Aufmuth so he can plan accordingly which hole to spring from like a panther or what hill top to descend from like a redtail hawk. Beinvenue Louisiane, amigos!
