  • Lost at Piney Woods - US Officer Forage Cap

I just got done emptying my trunk and spreading out gear to dry and discovered that my cap was not packed in my knapsack. I lost it either at the final camp (where Holler's boys from Company B were camped) or at the parking lot at Lotus Camp (Near where we had guys register when we checked in). I suppose it could have been lost at the prior nights camp, but I could have sworn I had packed it up when we left.

The cap is a Starbuck private purchase Federal cap with an infantry hunting horn insignia on the front with "24" inside the loop of the horn. I purchased the cap specifically for the event and will greatly miss having it!!!! :cry_smile

If someone finds the cap, please contact me at jwickett@comcast.net.

I just got back home and plan to catch up on IPW threads and write some posts about the event later. Time to play with the kids now!

    Thanks, Gents!

All items lost in Kisatchie will be found by the Bayou Yeti and put to good use. Thus far he has collected one musket, three blankets, a peach can boiler, two side knives, and assorted collection of personal items including French pornographic images, one whistle ,and one yankee officer that was sleeping beneath a pine tree and missed the order to move out. None of these items will be returned. Finders keepers, says the Yeti. Oh, and how do we know this is the "real" Terry Sorchy that is posting?

I recieved an email from a 'Terry Sorchy' requesting money and some commisary pans be sent to the son of the deposed king of Nigeria.

Don't worry Terry, per our discussion in the woods of LA I have sent you money for your sick aunty in London.

We think the petticoat more suitable for them in these times.

          Tom,
I lost something else. If you are around the last federal campsite, to the right of the road looking toward the CS position by the top of the ridge, I left two keys on a piece of string. It was where they were using that large log as firewood. Those are the keys to my feild desk and I would greatly appreciate getting them back. With the rain and all and the craziness of finding things friday morning I left them. Its me Cody unlike that SOB that is screwing with my email. If you go back there thats fine Tom if not I can see if I can find something else. You and Fred are wonders to behold. Im tired and dirty and burnt out so I'll close now.
          Thanks

I probably will not be back to Kisatchie until deer season. At that time, if I stumble across an item possibly belonging to one of the members of the Jornada del Muerto, I will pick it up. Though related to the Bayou Yeti by marriage, I do not deal in his trade of finding lost items and selling them on E-Bay as originals.

Found at Piney Woods - canteen

In the Cane Camp, between the toilet house and the rail fence, I found a canteen. It's round, flat sides, soldered joints, unchained cork, used-to-be-white canvas sling, no covering. Larry Young's group was parked there, but others may have passed by during the packing and leaving Friday morning. No ID that I can find. Write me at chevelle@flatfenders.com if it's yours.

                double bag kidnapping

Well, in all the hustle and bustle of us scattering to our cars and moving out we were unable to find out what happen to the contents in the wagons. The only item we had in there was a double bag knapsack that had assorted extra items and a pair of boots. If someone could send me some contact information on the guys who controlled the wagons or where the contents were dropped off that would be very, very helpful.

We also pulled out our gear and noticed, somehow, there was another haversack with someone elses tin cup on the tab. We are almost sure of who's this is and we think it is a member from our company (B). Although, let me know if you are missing your haversack and a description of some contents and we'll get this baby back to her mother.

Thanks, Terry! It can wait until Bentonville. I'm glad it was safe... in all the confusion of the last night, I didn't realize it wasn't in my knapsack.

The saturated Knapsack in drying out in my living room floor as we write.
I did post on the BGR forum telling of the items left on the wagons.

When we drove the wagons the 10 miles back to Cane we were a mite chilled, so when we got back to Cane we got in the horse trailer and turned on some stoves to warm up and make coffee. Sorry we were not available to help get you stuff out of the wagons for you. We were watching though.

Feel free to email to make arrangements to get your stuff back.

                        Tom,

Its hopeful that the found musket in your hands belongs to Larry Brenton of St. Louis, Missouri, who traveled with the ox cart team.

He is also missing a saber belt and a load of other assorted gear. Larry does not have email, but he was working on a list what he'd lost with descriptions, when I talked with him yesterday. Contact Frank Afmuth, as he'll have more immediate access to Larry.

I have a pair of someone's cotton socks. I probably picked them up in Company F's camp on Friday morning. Shoot me a pm if you think they may be yours.
