1860 Federal Slave Schedule for Gray's Summit

There were 217 slaves listed on the 1860 Federal Slave Schedule for Boles Township, Gray's Summit Post Office. Thirty-two of the 104 households owned slaves. Seven of them had 10 or more with Spencer Coleman from Virginia having the most at 40.

The birth place of the owners of slaves:
    22 - Virginia
    5 - Missouri
    3 - New York
    1 - Maryland
    1 - Tennessee

Not sure of the status of things in 1864, but I'm sure that there was a very interesting mix of sesh and abolitionist considering the number of slave owners and immigrants.
