  • Sterling Price monument

For those coming from far away, in Keytesville, Mo. in Chariton, there is a monument to Gen. Price, an impressive one, and also a museum which I was never able to see. Price lived here for many years and at one time was
ranked #8 land holder in the county with almost 3,000 acres to his name. Very interesting man with an extensive and complex background which was true of many Missourians and still holds true.

      Holler,
In downtown Layafette, Louisiana is a nice statue of General Mouton. I know you would rather see that statue. When you come down for the rabbit festival in Iowa, Louisiana next spring, we will stop by so you can take photos.

There should be a monument to David Moore in Missouri and Iowa!

Hog, we should stop on the way home and take a look at Price's monument.

Tom, I would like to come down to Iowa, Louisiana.

In LA we pronounce it like it has a "y" on the end, but only the city and not the state.

A monument to Davey Moore would be the ultimate. I will work on that. Overlooking the Athens battlefield where he owned the rebs.

What I saw of Athens, it wasn't worth owning.

If you come on Saturday night about 11:00 you will probably have the priviledge to hear Travis Matte and the Zydeco King Pins (pronounced Mott) or Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin` Cajuns. If you get to hear Travis Matte make sure you don`t have small children. That is why he doesn`t play until 10:30. Also make sure you get you some rabbit gumbo and rabbit boudin. Also there is plenty adult beverages availible for your consumtion. Them coon asses will show you boys from up north how to party, so don`t be faint of heart. Also, just to share a little local information that most does not know until one lives in South Louisiana, but everyone north of I-10 is a yankee so you will feel right at home.
