Re: ‘150th Cycle' Event Plans Underway
Chris, what on earth are you talking about? Are you for this effort, against it, or waiting for more information? I'd really like to know, because it's difficult to tell from your questions what your actual concerns are.
You sound as if you have problems with it, and suspect it of taking away from other events. But there's no basis for that. Not only does it represent an effort to do some planning out to 2015, but a number of folks there (which you may see from the full minutes, when they come out) spend a substantial amount of time at events you see listed on the AC forum as straight-up "EBUFU."
Beyond that, several of the events discussed in Winchester, being by hobbyists, for hobbyists and preservation, meet a literal definition of "EBUFU." Listing them here in the "adjunct" folder is basically a concession to past warfare over what that term means. Having been involved in several of Chris Ander's "hybrid" events, I can tell you that they're as much "EBUFU" with a mainstream adjunct as the other way around.
And further beyond that, if you have a concern about the standards and level of authenticity these events will provide, you have as much opportunity as anyone to participate, if not in person then online. I for one would welcome your contribution, if you can work through your coherence issues.
