  • Grand Review in Washington DC

MODS, If this post does not belong here or meet your guidelines please delete. Not an adjunct per-say, since it is a parade, but we are trying to encourage quality members of the hobby to attend and to root out those who have poor impressions.

    All,

With the retirement of the former coordinator of the Federal Contingent for the DC Memorial Day Parade, I have been left in charge to organize this year's participants.

This just happens to be the 145th anniversary of the Grand Review, and we'd like to see a good turnout to honor those who marched in DC 145 years ago. This event is open to Federal Infantry, all CS troops will have to contact the SCV post that also marches in the parade.

There are many pictures of the Grand Review to base your impressions on, and the guidelines will be simple: Basic federal 1865. Corps badges are encouraged and you may choose light or heavy marching order. There are pics of units doing both. Please try to pick a unit to portray that partook in the actual event. That leaves the door open to a lot of specialty impressions, but if you choose to do a zouave or sharpshooter unit or anything out of the ordinary, make sure you have a full unit (15+) to put in the parade. Individual specialty impressions (surgeons, chaplains, vivandiers), early war impressions and unattached officers are discouraged. Females portraying males will be handled on a case-by-case basis ahead of time.

We are allowed to bring as many reenactors and living historians ans we wish, so lets fill up the street!
