Once again the Armory Guards is hosting the ACW living history component of the Battle of Atlanta Anniversary. This year the organizers have asked us to portray Federals and discuss the occupation of Atlanta in September of 1864. The 2nd Massachusetts was chosen because they were assigned provost duty for the town. We will be conducting drill and firing demos as well as improving the earthwork area as demonstrations for the public as well. Period Rations will be provided for Saturday. Saturday evening the organizers are providing dinner for us.
Saturday is the only day for the LH demos this year. We are camping at the site Friday and Saturday night.
Sunday there will be a driving tour of the Peachtree Creek Battlefield that should wrap up by Noon. Afterwards, since we will be nearby, I urge folks to go and visit the Atlanta History Center.
There are 15 participants signed up already and there is room for 20 more Federal participants.
Guidelines will be posted soon. Red XX Corps badges are acceptable too.
