Bryant, Here is the google link, just hit directions and put your from info in. It should be pretty accurate. I used it last year and it gave me no issues. We will be hitting Kennesaw early Friday afternoon. We will see you all between 3- 5pm. It is going to be a great weekend! I am happy to put the wool on 90 degrees or not :)

There is a school program, Friday from 10a-2pm for some 150 camp kids. If you can be on site by then, it is appreciated by the organizers and the folks from the Atlanta History Center.

A big hearty thanks to the Armory Guards and the B*ATL Staff for another fine living history. It was great to meet new friends and connect with old ones. I believe there were close to 800 visitors to the recreated federal occupied earthworks as well as the Confederate and Militia camps this weekend. The temps were hot, but people were genuinely interested and appreciative of what we were doing there. A great time was had by all. I hope for bigger and better living histories at this event in the future. It is an incredible opportunity to give the local East Atlanta populous a quality living history! Great Stuff!

I agree, Pete. This was a great living history for the East Atlanta/Kirkwood neighborhood, and I was glad to be able to particpate this year in something almost in my own backyard, and I was happy to see everyone there, new and old friends. Thanks to Herb, Robby, and all the Armory Guards for their work in putting this together this year (and every year) and the B*ATL folks for making sure to keep history a part of a historical anniversary event.
Too bad about the Peachtree Creek tour on Sunday, but if there was ever an opportunity to do something like that again, whether connected to an event like this or just an independent-type thing, I'd definitely be interested.
Also, it was great to see Wendell Decker out for this; I know there were a lot of great tintypes struck this weekend, hopefully folks may post up some of theirs, and I'll put the woodshed image up once I can get it scanned at work.

                  Cheers...

Double P and Travis, thanks for coming out. It was a LOT hotter than last year. The Peachtree Creek deal is probably best suited for a fall or winter date. We had almost 1000 visitors according to the official count.

I get few passes out to events now that I'm working weekends at the museum, but this one was well worth the pass and the trip. For a living history, this event gets some educated people attending, so the questions were varied and detailed. The companionship was great, and the opportunity to portray at 20th corps unit with the history of the 2nd Mass was a good challenge. It was also well worth the trip to let Double P experience the wonders of the greater metro Atlanta area such as The Varsity, Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield, the General, and Wildman's (even though he was headed out to lunch, he was still barefoot and packing twins).

You know what is so odd about Dent "Wild Man" Myers. Is that he worked for Lockheed-Martin. Also wrote several books and service manuals while working there. You wouldn't think he is that smart just meeting him. But a friend of mine that also in the hobby worked there with him.

For the folks who may not know who we are talking about.

Dent "Wildman" Myers is the owner of"The best little War house in Kennesaw" He has been in the same location 35yrs.

It was my first time there. Seeing Quantrill's Black No Quarter Flag flying from the roof was a bit surreal.

By the way, there are bullet holes in the door and wall from the few times he has shot at some people.

My grandfather did too. He worked for Skunk Works at Lockeed and told me stories of Dent too from when he worked with him when I was a kid. Wild Man has a picture hanging in his store of my best friend and I in Iraq holding the First National.
