Ride/carpool needed from Northeast

A little over a month away... I do not have anyone that I can ride/carpool with. I was going to fly, but got hit with some nasty-high taxes.

Anyone from the Northeast going to this event? PM me if you have room in your movement schedule and we can talk offline.

Johnny is coming out of Connecticut, and will be traveling through Harrisburg, Pa, Charleston, W. VA and Frankfurt, Ky enroute to Dove, Tn.

Honestly, I would look into cheap plane tickets while you still can. With the money you would spend on gas and hotels it might be the same to just fly. I am sure you have already thought of that, just throwing it out there at this point

Yeah... already have flown to some events, and while that is normally an option since I don't yet have kids, taxes were heavy this year and I'm a bit flat in the wallet now.

It is actually cheaper for me to ride with people and split the cost of gas with each other. Charles Heath/Billy Birney/Tommy Gingras and I drove from CT to MD to MO for Marmy's Raid in 2008 and this worked well.

Airplanes require cost of the ticket, extra baggage, rental vehicle, gas for said vehicle, buying rounds/caps, possible hotel room... etc. While I could borrow some of these things, the costs of flying are a sacrifice of convenience vs. money. I'm trying to save money now.

If anyone wants to go in the mid-Atlantic states/Northeast, please let me know... Johnny:wink_smil

Brian Hicks tells me that there is no one from the Northeast coming to this event. Weird.

So... how far North is everyone coming-up from the Eastern Seaboard in order to cut-over to Tennessee? Perhaps we can meet-up (ideally in WV, VA, MD, or western NC) and we can ride together to the event.

Johnny, check Spirit Air for a few cheap rates to Myrtle Beach from Boston/Logan. Shawn Simpson and I are leaving Myrtle Beach and picking up Tyler Scott in Greenville. You can come and visit with your parents for a day and I live only six miles from them. So, you know my number, give me a call. I think the round trip should be less than $150 or so...

Think of it this way Johnny--that little price differential there would be hoovered right up in baggage charges. I can check nearly a 100 pounds of plunder free on Southwest, as long as I get the bags evened out.

It's the reason I fly Southwest--they don't blink at a rolling duffle with a bedroll wrapped around a spinning wheel. And if you do have to cancel, they give full credit towards another ticket.

Fellers! Somebody pick Johnny up at the airport and save him the price of a rental!! It's an easy airport, in and out, even if you don't know the road. I picked up folks there for Wagon School two weeks ago, and my inability to follow road signs is legendary :D
