A bump for this event. It hasn't been getting much airplay and it should. Camp Jackson really made a difference in Missouri. Many that were sitting the fence went over to the Confederate side after this affair. Remember, the boys assembled at Camp Jackson were Missouri Militia and not Confederate, Federal or even State Guard at that point. Lyon's capture of the encampment and subsequent events set the tone for the nasty war that Missouri had and went a long way to setting the forming of the Missouri Brigade into motion.
Come on out and join us. We can use more militia and certainly need plenty more of the German Home Guard units that surrounded the camp and captured the men there.
