2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 22-24, 2011
Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
whats the event web site under?
“Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious, we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.”
Robert E. Lee
Give us patience. We're working feverishly researching. I've spent hours digging descriptions, original photos, etc. and others guys have too. Skip will make the announcement when all is settled. And I'm glad to see you're just as excited as a bunch of us are.
Oh, no rush at all... none at all. Just thinking 3 steps ahead like I always do... If you need help, please let me know. :)

Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
The overall Event is going to be in conjuction with the Larger Nation Event taking place 22-24 July 2011. We will Fall in under Chris Anders as he portraying Bees Brigade. Other "campaigner" minded units will portray 6th NC, 2nd Alabama and two companies of the 11th Miss... More to follow on the details of this. I am working with Chris on this to support a "adjunct" style event where the Brigade will only be around the Circus for the engagments, otherwise we will be off on our own on pre-designated land. This will be the same but at a smaller scale for out return to manassas effort.

Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
Another Note. the other regiments being portrayed by units in the "southern division" will only have 2-4 companies a piece. We will have the WHOLE 2nd Mississippi of 10 companies and staff portrayed for this event. As stated we are up to 9 Companies with the 10 being worked this coming weekend at a Living history in my area.
Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
Looks like we are starting to look at company assignments.
Only 2 taken so far:
Co A-
" B- Independent Volunteers (Nic Clark)
" C-
" D-
" E-
" F-
" G-
" H
" I-
" K- Jason Reinholtz/ Cris Irelan
IF you have spoken up for a company and would like to have a designation please let me know.. Both A and B companies will have a unique impression and as you can see one is already taken by the Independent Vols.
Personal email replies is prefered.
Thanks,

Reason: Wrong info
Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
the group I portray was originally part of the 11th NCST, so we're trying to get a group together for that impression....is there any more event info posted anywhere for the event other than here???
Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
This is just a Thread About the 2nd Mississippi Adjunct for the event. No other impressions will be coordinated on this thread.
Matt Woodburn is doing some heavy digging on impressions and we would like to solidify the companies based on the research. expect to see all of this on a Website sometime after the Before the Breakout event.
Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
Again more and more units signing up for companies.
Here is what we are looking at so far:
A – Tishomingo Riflemen, Tishomingo County (OPEN)
B – O’Connor Rifles, Tippah County (Indendent VOLS)
C – Town Creek Riflemen, Itawamba County (WIG)
D – Joe Matthews Rifles (or Beck Rifles), Tippah County (OPEN)
E – Calhoun Rifles, Itawamba County (OPEN)
F – Magnolia Rifles, Tippah County (Liberty Rifles)
G – Pontotoc Minute Men, Pontotoc County (WIG)
H – Coonewah Rifles, Pontotoc County (OPEN)
I – Cherry Creek Rifles, Pontotoc County (Southern Guard/Palmetto Guard Tenative hold)
K – Iuka Rifles, Tishomingo County (CORNFED mess)
-Matt Woodburn, Pat and myself are working on the website with Tripp Corbin. We will get out registration info here soon off the website.
Great ideas and planning on this event. I have a site walk through in 2 weekends for where we will be camping. Again the entire Bees Brigade under anders will be represented. We will be the 2nd Miss as we have stated. The whole Brigade will camp and operate off the main property at a local park out of the spot light from the larger event.. This is a large Adjunct!
Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
I seem to remember reading somewhere that blue cockades (could be wrong, currently cant find the source, other than this)
"SEMI-WEEKLY MISSISSIPPIAN [JACKSON, MS], November 23, 1860, p. 3, c. 4
The blue cockade—"the South must be protected in her rights"—have made their appearance in large numbers on our streets. Nearly every man in town has one, and doubtless if it becomes necessary to protect our rights at the price of blood, the citizens of Magnolia will not be found wanting in the strife. Three cheers for the blue cockade.—Magnolian. "
and
Jackson, Miss., Nov. 26, 1860.
The capital of Mississippi is at present all alive with excitement, and densely crowded with people, who have been drawn to it by the deeply absorbing nature of the occasion of the assemblage of the Legislature in extraordinary session. . . The people here, young and old, wear the blue cockade, the principal, if not the only, exceptions to the rule being those who are too well known for their ultra Southernism to need such symbols of their faith.
Among the blue cockades I observe not a few quite elderly persons. Prominent among them is the veteran Col. Archer, of Claiborne, who declares that since the death of Senator Tazewell, of Virginia, he has become the oldest disunionist in the United States. . . . "
So I am wondering if someone with a bit of sewing ability would put a few together for purchase?

Re: 2011 1st Manassas- CS Regiment to be formed-July 2011
Here are a couple more additions to Company Assignements
Co A-
" B- Independent Volunteers (Nic Clark)
" C- WIG (Armory Guards)
" D-John Wickett/GHTI/Eric Fair
" E-
" F-Liberty Rifles
" G-WIG
" H
" I- (tenative hold for Southern Guard/Palmetto Guard)
" K- Jason Reinholtz/ Cris Irelan
Companies A, E, and H are still open.... If you are wanting to get on board please let Matt Woodburn or myself know. We are accomplishing this as a intitial effort to do more in the following 150ths following years. Same intent to do an event within an event.. We engourage those that normally just do Federal to come on board and enjoy the experience of a large mass of like minded folks, and a Full regiment of Authentics. Impression is simple enough that those who normally do Federal will have limited problems getting the simple Red Shirt/Grey trousers together. Black hats are the standard too, so this should be easy to acomplish... 3 more companies left to fill.. or reach out to one of the already formed companies to augment their numbers.
