Town Creek Rifles! Captain Thomason is currently working on getting a deal put together for the red overshirt and gray pants. What the good captain would like to see is all of us with our red shirts and tricorn-esq hats. Many of us have gray trousers so that is a plus, but he is also working on getting the material for the red stripes as well.

We will be discussing the finer points of having the men clothed in similar fashion this weekend.

Do we plan to do the white star on the collar as the only trim? I was hoping my current solid red shirt would work trimmed with the stars. I'll likely have an extra to get rid of depending on Garrett's growth...as he moves up to the next larger one he has.

Look at page 169. see the sketch of the soldier's overhirt collar. The caption states that these were from the Military Board for the Army. Keep it simple!

I have a few cut out. I have enough white wool to make at least 20 sets. When I get them done, I can send them to you for dissemination. May take me a while to get them all cut out. Maybe Jan.

Is Captain Thomason still putting together an order? If so, I would like to join the order. I would rather look uniform with others rather than something homemade that will be off from others of this illustrious Company.

I have wool for trouser and the red trim is on the way. I have a small amount of red wool and will be making some shirts and it will be posted here when I get some done. Galen if you want to cut out some stars call me at 404 358 5611 and we will get something for the company worked out.

Any update on uniforms? I am always anxious to get my kit together early. Also, any thoughts on Bowie knives or Arkansas Toothpicks? Pictures of sheaths would be greatly appreciated.

Bill, stick to the guidelines on from the WIG website and you'll be fine. If you need material, trousers, or an overshirt contact Kiev or Justin Runyon.

Just a thought here....but would it be more accurate to have an 1860's style civilian hat rolled/folded into a tricorn or to use an actual tricorn that is more accurate for say the late 1700's?

Luke, you are correct, and that is what is intended in the guidelines. It may be that they are not erfectly clear, or you read them fast (i cant recall the language) but suffice it to say, when the term "Tricorn" is used for the Mannassas guidelines it means a mid century hat folded and stitched in such a manner as to give it three corners.
