    Re: Independence Village, May 27-29.2011

I just wanted to give this event a gentle bump to stimulate further discussion and interest. This event affords us the rare ability to recreate a small Midwestern village environment over the course of the 150s, and we need your support to make this work. We especially need men to sign on to the event at this time. So gentlemen, c'mon in to town for a weekend and see what the latest news about the war says. Is your patriotic ardor such that you're thinking of enlisting? There may in fact be an officer coming to town for just that reason. Get out of the fields and into Independence Village! There's room enough now for several men to take part in the scenario. Please check here for more information.

I am looking foward to it. This will be a good event for civilians as well as those men of the area considering taking up arms in defense of the Union. It's being held at a very good and rustic site. Come on out for it men and you will have a good experience!

Horses are welcome at this event so if any mounted types would like to come out for this one shoot me a PM here or an email at paddymacster@gmail.com and I'll get you all hooked up.

Thanks, guys. Here's the basic registration information:

Registration before April 1: $20.00. After April 1: $25.00. Walk-ons can't be permitted, per insurance regulations. The registration fee covers site rental, insurance, firewood, and sanitation. Final registration deadline is April 15.

More information about registration, etc., can be found here.

At this time, I believe we have enough women and families to fill all the houses, but there is definitely more room for gentlemen. Around April 1, I'll start releasing spaces for people on the waiting list. Please don't hesitate to ask if you're interested in attending the event -- we all know how things can change at the last moment! At the risk of sounding like a broken record, though, this is a strict immersion event, and the buildings are mostly rather primitive. Impressions for women and children are respectable but not prosperous.

Please do let us know if you have any questions. Bob Welch (a/k/a J. Donaldson) can handle questions about volunteers; Patrick is dealing with the horse guys; I'll be happy to answer questions about women and families.

        Thanks!

Hello Bob.... I wasn't able to attend the May event, my granddaughter's graduation was this weekend...but I will certainly be putting the event on my calendar in the future, It will be great to see everyone again!!
If there would be the possiblity of us sharing a ride, that would be great...since we are less than 1 hr. apart :)
We might as well share gasoline expense :)

              Regards
