This is a first person living history in an authentically reproduced 1825 US frontier fort. We will be portraying the time period of late April to May 1861 reliving the mustering-in of the 1st Minnesota Volunteers Infantry.
This was a patriotic time for the US and for Minnesota. Thousands of people made the journey to Fort Snelling to see their brothers, fathers, and friends become soldiers.
Participants flying in
As you can see on the map on the directions page, the Minneapolis\St. Paul Airport is 6 minutes away from Fort Snelling. We will have a shuttle to and from the Airport.
There will be a place to change and to store modern clothes at the fort for these people.
This is a three (3) day event, going live at 9:00 PM Thursday night and ending on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
Cars will be allowed inside the walls on Thursday from 5PM to 8:30PM ONLY for people who have prior authorization to set up a wall tent! Please arrive early.
Military and Onsite Civilian participants must be on site for check-in before 8:30 PM. The event will start promptly at 9:00PM.
Participants who cannot arrive until Friday please contact the event coordinator.
