    Re: Manassas Animated Battle Map

Thanks for posting this. I have been reading the Illustrated Atlas of the Civil War, part of the Echoes of Glory series of books, and it can be hard trying to piece together how the battle happened from static illustrations.

I would love to see animated maps like this for other Civil War battles!

For those who like maps, for Manassas, take a look at the following book:
The Maps of First Bull Run: An Atlas of the First Bull Run (Manassas) Campaign, including the Battle of Ball's Bluff, June-October 1861 (2009) by Bradley M. Gottfried

The Maps of First Bull Run: An Atlas of the First Bull Run (Manassas) Campaign, including the Battle of Ball's Bluff, June-October 1861 (Savas Beatie Military Atlas Series) [Gottfried, Bradley M.] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. While I don't own it, when I did have a chance to flip through, it initially impressed me.

            Re: Manassas Animated Battle Map

There was an individual out there in the land of the interwebs back in '06 that was creating animated maps. He had done a great one of Shiloh and one of the Battle of Midway. I'll look and see if I can find the link now, but it may be lost. I thought it a worthy project, and my wife used the Shiloh map in her social studies classroom. A great asset for students, whether in a classroom or on here, who are visual learners, and aren't we all to some extent?
