Source material for Company H, Coonewah Rifles members! (Courtesy of Ryan Kiesel-above posting). These are probably the blue jackets with the green trim written about in period accounts by Capt. Taylor of Company H.

This is our primary impression, second to this is the red shirt/grey pants, and thrird is civilian with prior event-organizer approval.

      Thanks- Johnny

What would this hat star be made of? Cloth, or brass/tin/copper?

Most likely cloth from what event researchers have told me so far. I have not checked this for myself yet, but I trust their research.

Is there any word on the green trim? If there is no centralized efforts to universalize the trim in the company, does anyone know of a good source? I checked Needle and Thead back in December and they did not have green. All other of my local fabric stores have also struck out as well.

Is there any specific position as to where to attach the star to our tricorn hat? Should I place it on the front of the crown at the point or on one of the looped up flaps on the left or right side? I kind of like it on the front as shown in the picture of Company C’s impression.

                            Bill,
I have a book with dozens of images of stars and their placements on hats and there really doesn't seem to be a right or wrong way to apply it. Most I think will be placing it on the looped op brim on either side of the crown.

Either, but most pics show it on one of the sides of the hat that I've seen.
