  • First Blood: James Island, SC May 2012 17th S.C. versus Federal Cavalry

I am currently in negotiations to utilize a piece of property on James Island near Leagreville to replicate the march and skirmish of the 17 SC on the actual ground. This will be a campaigner event, full immersion and will represent actual events prior to the Battle of Secessionville and the movement to Virginia of the Tramp Brigade.

There would be a small unit of Federal Cavalry, Confederate mounted scouts and the 17th SC which had just been reorganized for Confederate Service. No Artillery of Union Infantry will be involved.

The term "first blood" was used by Captain Edwards of Co. A, 17th SC.

The event will take place in early May.
