  • First Volunteer...

With the need for 30 spots to be filled for Company K, let me be your first volunteer.

Anyone considering a company to join - Company K is the place to be. Captain Bevard is a solid leader and I stand behind him. The experience of this comapny will be all the greater under his command.

When the time comes and you are called to choose - Choose the company filled with stout, sinewy Mid-western men!

    Choose Company K!!

Cap'n, we're not officially the "graybeards" of Iowa, but do we have room for Silas and his band of veterans from the Pacific Northeast? See his post elsewhere on the telegraph.

                      Re: First Volunteer...

On paper we have 39 right now. We will see what happens when registration opens and if everyone follows through. If there are slots open when the list comes out a week after registration opens I have a waiting list of men that have contacted me that are still looking for a home. These men are now on the list. Wish I had a better answer but I have been fielding emails like crazy over the last week as I am sure all the company Captain's/POC's have been. Never seen anything like this before already!!

Silas and his guys found a home. After registration opens and you get your first rush of registrations done, if you have space that's filling slowly, I'll send guys to Jeremy for approval. You guys will have a big full company. Let's fill it with Wolverines and midwest men first.

                          Re: First Volunteer...

Seems there will be plenty of modern brethren at this event -- if there was a Traveling Lodge either within the battalion or even on the boat in 1862, I wonder if Tennessee would allow us to create a short-lived Traveling Lodge? I have documentation that the First Nebraska participated in a Traveling Lodge early in the war but I think it came after their participation at Shiloh. I'll review my notes.
                          Any interest, Brothers?

Good news: I'm confirmed for Shiloh 150th.
Bad news: Matt has me listed in Co. A, not Co. K. Did my reputation catch up with me? Everyone needs a Jonah ...
