  • Shaker's Meeting at South Union June 18 9:00-2:30

The South Union Guard would like to invite all those who plan to attend the Perilous Times event October 21-23 under the impression as Shaker's to South Union Shaker Village June 18 from 9:00a.m.-2:30p.m.

The event has been advertised as "civilians" but there are in fact only 3 impressions being portrayed for the event, Infantry, Cavalry, & Shaker's.

If you are interested in portraying a Shaker of South Union Shaker Village, and are able please RSVP by emailing shakmus@logantele.com

We encourage you to bring your clothes so that we may look over them and give suggestions. The day will include discussion of textiles, labor, jobs, prep for event, and tour of the site at 1:00p.m. by Kaelin Vernon.

We will be sharing journals, images, etc and possibly artifacts to peek interest on impressions.

    For directions: www.shakermuseum.com

    more information please email shakmus@logantele.com

Look forward to seeing each of you there!

    Kalin,

That's quite a haul from Alabama. Is there camping the previous night or anything?

Is this June weekend a period dress thing? My base dress is done, I'll simply reset the pleating when the date gets closer.

I may have a prototype linen cap done by then. It's cut out .......

And I'd like to look at sprucing up your natural dye exhibits and what that will require while I'm there.

Yassir, I used to be Mrs. Lawson. I still run period dyepots, knit stuff, and cause trouble.

ADVENTURE CALLS. Can you hear it? Come ON.

      Mrs. Lawson!

I understand the distance. I welcome any who would like to camp or stay at our 1869 Shaker Tavern B&B on site.
Being that I live close by, I will drive over that morning:)

You do not have to come dressed out, but simply bring them with you. Some of us will change at dinner(thats lunch for those who are from other parts than the south) for the tour.
The clothing part of June 18 I hope will serve two purposes:
      1. We can discuss what will work & will not work
      2. We will have a guest group visiting from another country here at SU, I am hoping a few of us will be dressed out in order to be living historians here at SU for part of the time while we tour.

Very excited to see your dress, I have one of our staff members working on reproducing one of the prayer caps. Might have one ready by then, and South Union reproduction blankets for those that missed them last time from Mr. Utley.

Any help sprucing is always appreciated, Thank you dear friend

Kaelin, I so wish I'd noticed this event early in the spring! :( I assume that it's too late now to prepare. Good luck to you, It looks to be a wonderful event.
