Very interesting -- in a former life I ran the newspaper in Mo. Valley, so I know Harrison County communities fairly well. Any lads actually FROM this area of Iowa in the reconstituted Co. H? Shoot me a PM please.

Nice! Ricketts is Stephen King! Capt. Clark didn't make it to Shiloh since he was left sick in St. Louis. Hence the two Lt. positions for Co. H at Manassas. Ricketts had that crazy Stephen King gleam in his eyes at Bummers. I still laugh about you there Jordan. You were great.

Justin, would we have it any other way?

The only better name that I've run across was Lt. John Wayne in the 3rd Iowa Infantry.

John Wayne and Stephen King aside...

I guess I'll be portraying this fellow:
Platt, Zenas M. Age 21. Residence Derby Corner, nativity Connecticut. Enlisted Nov. 28, 1861,
as First Sergeant. Mustered Dec. 13, 1861. Wounded in left leg severely April 6, 1862, Shiloh,
Tenn. Discharged for wounds June 14, 1862, Keokuk, Iowa.
This will be the second orderly sergeant I've portrayed who suffered a leg wound in his first major engagement that took him out of service. The first portrayal was William A. Anderson, Company I, 4th Viriginia at the 140th of First Manassas. Both men served a total of about 6 months or less.

Justin, You should! Iowa was settled mainly by people who came from: Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania. For you Hoosiers it should be really easy to talk about the move west.

Careful what you wish for fellers. I was assigned an individual to portray at my form LH job, and ended up working with his gr-gr-grandaughter at a subsequent job. She had seen my portrayal, and well, let's just say I didn't portray him as an angel. Lucky for me she had the low-down on him, and I was well off the mark of just how "bad" of a person he was.
It could have been worse. :o
