Hi all,
Its been a year or two since I've posted anything. Sorry.
I just read this(http://articles.herald-mail.com/2011...nt-dennis-frye) article in the Hagerstown Herald Mail. I hadn't realized that there was not going to be a reenactment or even a proper event during the sesquicentennial a year from now.
I am not experienced in planning events, nor do I know much of the logistics involved in doing so. My question is this: was there no way that we could have pulled something together to make an event happen? Is it too late now? I live in DC and am originally from Hagerstown/Sharpsburg. While I don't know much about the logistics of the event, IF someone wanted to do this, and you needed eyes on the ground, I would be willing to go around and scout out ground, talk to farmers, spread the word, WHATEVER I had to do. I have been reenacting for almost 10 years and have a particular fascination with Antietam, given I grew up virtually on the battlefield.
I'd appreciate some insight from the mods, or people who are experienced in planning events, if for no other reason, I would like to gain some experience in this facet of the hobby.
As an aside, maybe a large event would not be feasible. However, a smaller, hardcore centered event could still be engaging and educational. If anyone is interested in this prospect, please feel free to PM me and I'll send you my contact information.
Most sincerely,
Brian Gauthier
