  • Good weather for this weekend...

The forecast is for mostly sunny, highs in the mid to high 60s - perfect wool weather, and low range is mid 30s to low 40s, so cold at night. We'll have early war canvas and/or a period house floor for everyone. You can bring a period civilian overcoat or cape if you wish for the evenings. Got a good crowd coming. Between infantry, cavalry and civilians, we have 60 people registered - perfect for bringing our little town to life - and a few others for a special Saturday night visit. See everyone there!

Re: Good weather for this weekend...

There are many places that are beautiful this time of year, but in my very humble opinion, south-central Cain-tuh-Kee owns autumn. This weekend is going to be beautiful, and I cannot recall looking forward to something this much in a long time.

I pulled Jackman's account down the other night to draw some inspiration. He states he left his home with the heaviest suit of clothes he could put on and a shawl. That's it, and that is literally all he had a for a few weeks. That means less is more in this situation folks, time to use those pockets for your comustibles and needful things. I know I fretted over an appropriate substitute for a haversack, canteen, etc. and just decided (as I should have all along) that I would rely on the kindness of others and Providence/commisariat to provide.

I plan on bringing my wedge tent, and have had to make some new poles from scratch, my old ones having disappeared. I wanted to paint them, but I don't think there will be time.

I have emailed Steve but no response yet. Is this a flat haversack event? And do we need skillets and such?
Looking forward to this event. Just be nice to Sister Elaine. She has been known to have Southern loyalty.

From what I have heard it is a flat haversack event and yes, we will need at least a skillet.

I understand we have to provide for ourselves on Friday night, but all other needs will be taken care of.

Re: Good weather for this weekend...

              All,

Get your Friday dinner on your own or bring what you want to cook on a fire for Friday supper. After that, your registration fee covers it all, so yes flat haversack. You will have four good meals and we will conclude the weekend between 10-11am on Sunday.
