March 2-4, 2012 - 9th New Jersey, Roanoke Island Living History

On behalf of the Washington Guards, I invite interested individuals and organizations to join us in recreating a company of the 9th New Jersey at the Island Farm Historic Site in Manteo, NC as a part of their Civil War Weekend on March 2-4, 2012. The 9th New Jersey was raised as a regiment of 'sharp shooters', althought they never were associated with Hiriam Berdan's US Sharpshooters, nor wore green uniforms. They recieved their introduction to field service and their baptism of fire in one of the many amphibious operations conducted by the Federal Army along the outer banks of North Carolina in the winter of 1862. The portrayal we're putting together is of the 9th New Jersey when they went ashore in February, 1862 and during the course of the event at Island Farm we'll recreate historically documented actions and activities. Details concerning the event are listed below.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Island Farm event is just a week away. I am organizing the federal contigent and we are in need of more soldiers to portray the 9th NJ "Muskrats". If you can find the time to help support the Island Farm site during this event please contact me, your participation will be greatly appreciated.
