This event sounds like it will be a blast. I might come out

I'm excited to say this will be my first campaigner event that I will participate in! And what better event than the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the end of the war in Missouri, and at a reenactment that will be fought on the original battlefield.

Don't forget boys - if all you have is a Federal kit but you would like to do CS, this is the event to do it since many of Price's men were in Federal uniforms.

Just a bump for my last post. I would really like to have some boys in Federal unifrom for this event.

I was wondering if anyone had information on what Price's personaly bodyguards where equiped with? I have been given an opertunity to portray one of his bodyguards and I was wondering what weaponry i should use.

I can't help you with anything specific Will, but can say that according to inspection reports, Price's men had a wide variety of weapons that were being carried; Mississippis, shotguns, .58 caliber muskets, and other misc. muksets and rifles. Pistols were at a minimum. You could probably carry what you normally carry and be fine. Good luck with your impression.

Boys, we are going to get to do something that hasn't been done in 150 years. We will be going up Shepherd's Mt. on Saturday just like the 14 MO did. We have been given special permission to do this and will be the only CS unit involved. Plus, there may be a few other surprises. If you haven't registered, don't miss this opportunity to take part.

Please consider joining Mike's 14th Missouri (Confederate) battalion for this event. You are not going to want to miss what is planned for Friday night and Saturday morning. Fighting in and around an original earthwork fort is just icing on the cake (with a serving of mainstream on the side, unfortunately). For anyone that is not interested in a Confederate impression, there are still about 20 spaces open for the Independent Veteran Battalion's recreation of the 14th Iowa. There are 4 companies filled and we would be happy to have quality individuals, messes or a company-sized group fill up the fifth and final company spot.

Also keep in mind that there was a large number of Price's men outfitted in Federal gear and uniforms and we are looking to portray this aspect of Confederates at Pilot Knob as well. So if you would like to be in a Confederate contingent but only have a Federal kit you will be welcome. Don't let the Confederates that died at this oft forgotten battle be left to be portrayed by mainstreamers.

Gents, we could certainly use some more Confederates. We will be following the original approach by Price's men, heading up Shepherd's Mountain (and we are the only CS group to get permission to do this), and assaulting the original earthwork fort over the same ground Price's men attacked. The 14th MO never reported their losses but it is estimated that they had approximately 30 casualties in their assault. There were about 400 in the outfit and not all of them took part in the battle so the percentage of hits was high. The Arcadia Valley in Missouri is lovely in late September. Please come join us.

Bumpity Bump. Still time to follow 'Pap' Price into Missouri and free the state from the tyrannical despot.
