Re: 150th Battle of Pilot Knob, Missouri Sept. 27-28
Heading up to Pilot Knob in the next couple days to scope out camping, route of march etc. I will be posting information you will need to get where you are going in the upcoming week or so. In the meantime if you want to look it up on Google Maps or something, you can search for Ironton, MO and it will give you an idea of your route and travel time.
There will be some sort of '14th MO' sign set up near registration for you to gather at and you will be shuttled from there t...o the campsite on Friday. Much of the historical approach is now a twolane higway so we will be covering some distance along that. But, there will be a vehicle behind us keeping traffic at bay and ready in case someone is injured or has any problems.
Rations will be distributed on Sat. morning so feed yourself on Friday. If you get too antsy, there will be time on Saturday to go to sutler row and find yourself a funnel cake if you are so inclined.
We will have some guard duty, there will be a parade and weapons inspection on Saturday before we step off as well as Sunday morning.
Remember, these guys were veteran soldiers for the most part even though they may have looked like a bunch of ragamuffins. They knew what they were doing militarily so we want to have that look about us too.
