    Re: 150th Resaca Federal Adjunct

Pat, traditionally the Resaca event is held near the beginning of May. I too want to make both events as well.

        Bob,

After Shiloh I'd swore to sign on to any company you raised at an event, above and beyond what my own guys in the 24th Missouri do. Now it looks like Cal has this one on our radar if the conflicts aren't too bad. We will firm up our schedule by end of 2013, but either way it looks like personally I will be there.

I did some research on the coordination of Pickett's Mill and Resaca 2014. The Pickett's Mill event is the weekend of May 30 - Jun 1 2014 while the Resaca 150th event (according to their 2014 website) is the weekend of 16-18 May 2014. You should be good for both, Mr. Landrum.

Any word on the Federal company structure yet? Can't say for sure my unit is coming as a group, so I may be a hired gun. Would help to know who you are looking at as company commanders.

No final structure as of yet. We have three companies planned thus far (with openings for two more):

                        150th RESACA FEDERAL ADJUNCT INFORMATION
                        May 16-18. 2014

Mission: SCAR is the host unit for this adjunct. The purpose of the 150th Resaca Federal Adjunct is to create a respectful, recreation of the 70th Indiana Volunteer Infantry of the 20th Corps at the Battle of Resaca, 1864. The battalion will maintain an campaigner camp, but uniform guidelines have been loosened to allow for progressive, mainstream participation. Aside from drill, morning colors and the battles, we will offer additional useful, interesting and enjoyable activities.
                        Guidelines:
Uniform: Please review and abide by the simple, uniform guidleines posted below and on the SCAR webpage and FB page at www.scareenactors.com Again, these have been modified from our normal immersion standards to a mainstream one to allow further participation across all progressive groups. Please note that all SCAR members are asked to maintain their same, immersive standard for Western Federals soldiers at this event.
Camping: ALL reenactors in the battalion must camp campaign style. This means no modern anachronisims (sleeping bags, modern tents, or food). You may bring a small period, tent fly or two shelter halves, extra blanket, and or greatcoat. Our camp is located on the hill adjacent to the battlefield and the Federal parking lot. We will have a guard posted at the bottom of the hill at the end of each trail. Ask the Federal Provost if you are lost.
Rations: Your registration covers period rations that will be issued to you and cooked as a mess. The Regimental Sutler will also have supplemental food items for sale (pickled items, pies, etc). If you bring your own food, they must be period foods only.
NCO/Field craft School: on Saturday, immediately after morning colors, we will offer NCO and Field craft classes. Several 50 minutes classes will be offered (for two hours after colors). Classes will include: - How to Conduct Drill, - Guard Mount, - Campaigner cooking, - Improvised Shelter, NCO practical. These classes are open to anyone (even if you are not part of the adjunct battalion). The NCO School is really for those who are NCOs or truly interested in sereving as one with their unit.
School of the Civilian: The SCAR Civilian Auxillary will also be offering classes for progressive civilians. These classes are open to anyone (even if you are not part of the progressive civilian adjunct).
Registration: DO NOT REGISTER THRU THE BATTLE OF RESACA SITE! You must register thru SCAR and use the attached registration form at www.scareenactors.com or on the SCAR FB page. Registration fee covers: 1) Event registration, 2) Ration issue, 3) wagon fuel fee and 4) $2 in sutler chits (you can spend these at our regimental sutler only). Civilian registration is lower as it does not cover rations.
Regimental Sutler: Joe Smotherman will be our regimental sutler. You will be refunded $2 in sutler chits from your registration. This can only be spent at the regimental sutler and can not be cashed in. Use them or lose them. Bring extra money to purchase additional items he will have for sale.
Campaigner College Books: An updated and revised copy of the 2001 “Campaigner College Handbook” will be available again for $20. This will include not only the original material, but additional and revised materials.
Battalion and Company Structure for the 70th IN Adjunct Battalion:
                        Lt. Col. Jim Butler
