In one week many of us will be arriving at Pickett's Mill State Park for the event. I hope all of you have read up on the battle and campaign, have your gear ready, feel good doing a few miles with packs on, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, have a good and open attitude! Take the mindset of an 1864 solider. Take cover every time you stop, be vigilant while on picket, do it like THEY did it. Feel free to bitch about the weather, bugs, distinguished opposition, but do it as a Civil War soldier. This is an event by us for us, AND we are helping out a seriously neglected battlefield. As you may know the park's hours have been cut to 3 days a week, it isn't a great time for parks, but our part within the grand scheme of the weekend will go to show a lot of elected state officials, and DNR officials that people do care about the park and history.

The staff of Pickett's Mill and my event staff have the grounds ready for you. Get into the mindset of the 1864 soldier in the Atlanta Campaign, and act the part! Do it like they did it.
