Re: 40th Indiana Company H Living History June 27-29, 2014 Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park
Will anyone be traveling east on I-20 at any point through the southern states headed to the event? I had originally planned to fly, but those plans fell through. That is a very long drive to make from the Dallas area alone, and any help at all would be appreciated.

Kennesaw Mountain Living History June 27-29 2014
1. First Person: The Hairy Nation prides itself with excellent first person skills. We expect all participants to engage in 19th century(1864) talk. If you need to talk modern please leave the camp area and talk in hushed tones. This does not apply when talking to the public. Please break character to answer questions.
2. Cell phones/cameras: Please leave cell phones in your vehicles. We will be close enough that you can ask to leave camp to check for calls etc. Patrick Landrum will have a phone on him in case of an emergency. But as stated before your vehicles will be very close.
Cameras: We will have two people taking pictures of the company throughout the weekend. Please leave your cameras in your wagon. We will post these online. Cell phones and cameras are to be left in your vehicle. We will let you go to your car and check messages etc when needed.
3. DO NOT BRING ANY ROUNDS OR CAPS! These will be provided by the NPS.
4. Remember that we will be camping at Tour Stop #2.
Not only will you check in with our company but you will also register with the NPS. This is what the NPS sent us:
“ All Union infantry will be at the Twenty-Four Gun Battery field which is located at the intersection of Stilesboro Road and Gilbert Road. This intersection is located at the northwest boundary of the park. After accession Gilbert Road the camp site will be o your left. Registration will be on the left just past the entrance to the camp site. Parking will be across Gilbert Road from the Registration tent. At registration your name will be checked against the list previously submitted by your unit leader. The serial number(HNB Note: Many of us no longer have serial numbers on our rifles. If you do not let me know. Holler) and description of your weapon will be checked against the list as well. After you are checked in, you will be given a small pin to wear on your uniform to indicate that you are registered and are a legitimate participant in our Living History programs for the event. You will be issued the appropriate parking pass which will allow you to park in the area designated for Living History participants.” Kennesaw NPS
5. Registration Times at 24 Gun Battery Field our campsite:
Thursday- 3:00 PM -8:00 PM
Friday 7:00AM-8:30 AM, 6:00 PM-8:00 Pm
Saturday 7:00-8:30 AM
6. We would like to have a mail call on Saturday. You can do one of two things: 1. Write yourself a letter. I usually write one and have my wife rewrite it. 2. Pick a name from our roster and write them a letter. You should address your letter as follows:
Private Headlog
Company H 40th Indiana
2nd Brigade 2nd Div 4th Army Corps.
Once at the event give the letters to me.
7. We are leaving Iowa Thursday and plan to stay at or near Chattanooga Thursday night. We are going to tour Friday morning and will be on site Friday afternoon. There will be two other groups at our campsite. Just tell them you are with us and they will direct you to our spot.
8. We will wrap everything up by 12:00 Sunday afternoon. If you would like to stay longer you can but many are driving from long distances and need to get on the road.
9. If you have any questions please e-mail me headlog@gmail.com or call me 319-471-0571

I have 5 one pound containers of Goex FFF powder left over from a bulk buy I did for last year's Gettysburg adjunct. If you would like one let me know and I will bring with me saving you shipping and hazmat costs. So, if you give me a $20 Federal Reserve Note of questionable value, I will give you a solid pound of black powder that will serve you in the future.

All:
Looks like I will not be able to make Friday night due to family issues, but I will be there at the 0700 sign-in Saturday morning. No BBQ for me on Friday... :( For now, I plan to stay Sat. night onsite.
If anyone wants to grab lunch on Sunday after the event, lemme know.
This moving-the-house-thing has had a rough effect on the family recently. Stuff is still in boxes and doing events has been a bit sideline.
Also, does anyone have a pocket mirror they might be willing to bring to the event for borrow or sale?
Thanks! -Johnny

I got my Bobby Horton cassette tape** at my first reenactment! About wore the sucker out (and many others since then). If you enjoy period music, whether you listen or play, amateur or professional, then you're standing on the shoulders of Bobby Horton!
Even more excited for this weekend!

Good thing you posted that, Wick. I might be able to cajole the wifey and kiddo into me coming tonight- she loves Bobby Horton... bar none, I will be there this weekend. :)

I'd like to thank Holler and the Nation for organizing the event. I had a great time with an amazing company.

I echo those sentiments, Bob! It was a great time. Great weather, considering how it can be in GA at this time of year, and fantastic camp life and interpretation. Thanks to Holler and all who made this event possible. Sean and I had a great time!

Thank you to Holler and the Hairy Nation Boys for a great event!
A HUGE thank you to Scott Busenbark who provided a lot of scholarship for the impression, but, due to circumstances beyond his control, wasn't able to attend. That sucks, Boozie! You were missed, brother!!
Our little home in the woods made a big impact on the spectators, I think. Those who came through were interested, engaged, and asked a lot of good questions. It was a great crowd! One of them (a brother Mason), was a mechanic on LST547 in the Pacific Theater during WW2. Chatted with him for a while... what a great guy!!
Maybe we should do this event again next year? ...anyone?
