The 24th Missouri is leading the Federal Impression at the Mansfield State Park's "Fall of the Rebellion" event in May

The guiding impression is the 8th Illinois Infantry with a CAP of 40 reenactors

Please contact Cal Kinzer at ckinzer@juno.com if you wish to fall in with us for a great end of the war event!

The event will portray the Mutiny of Confederate General Harry Hays' troops in May of 1865. Confederates of the Trans-Miss will meet in Mansfield to Swear the Oath to the Union!

now that Bentonville is over, and what an amazing event it was, Mansfield is coming up in May. We have a cap of 40 Federals for the event. if you want an end of war event, this will be a good one.

Come on out folks, this is a great event to come out to the Trans-Mississippi! We are working to make this a great event to demonstrate the end of the war in the west. We need Federals for the surrender event in the afternoon as well as confederates for the Mutiny of Hays' Division event in the morning. Not only is this one of the last 150th events it is also a way to help support Mansfield State Historic Site. The Louisiana State budget is scrapping the bottom of the barrel and a successful event my help ensure the continued operation of the site. (yes the last bit was a shameless plug). Bump, hey here is a great Trans-Mississippi event we are trying to do right by with a good adjunct of Federals and Rebs. Right now we are really short of good Federals, but a great opportunity to put on a quality living history, under the leadership of Cal Kinzer. Come join us!!!

Alright, I'm taking the intiative to post this image from the event this last weekend. This is an awesome image of Remnants of the 24th LA, Co.A who have surrendered to the 8th Illinios Infantry in the Shreveport area in June 1865. This was a great event, and if you missed it then you missed a unique impression! The weather cooperated, the reenactors were great, and most importantly the visitors to the site went away impressed and with new knowledge about an event which they knew nothing about. This event was able to inform the general public that in fact the war did not in at Appomattox in April, but in the Trans-Mississippi in June of 1865!

Great job to everyone in the 24th Missouri, 16th Louisiana, 11th Louisiana, Independent Rifles, and Trans-Mississippi Hellcats, y'all made the event a great success. I only wish I could have dressed out and taken part instead of being the "Park Ranger".
