I finally finished “Maney's Confederate Brigade at the Battle of Perryville” by Stuart W. Sanders http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/162...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I was impressed with the amount of 9th Tennessee Infantry accounts. Especially from the unit's major, who from one account seemed to be affected by a shell burst and his horse getting hit by musket fire. But, he left a fairly good account of the regiment's actions in between Parson's Ridge, the Cornfield below it, and to Starkweather's Hill. The accounts from all of the regiments definitely emphasize the dry conditions, and rolling terrain at the battlefield. All in all, it is a good read, and helped me get a better understanding of the actions of Maney's men.

Now, I'm working on Bob Flemming's 9th Tennessee book.

Gentlemen, I am at a disadvatage in regards to free time of late to allocate to personal research. All of the battlefield park and event guidelines notwithstanding, what was the 9th Tenn armed with and any clarity of specific pattern of accouterments?

Ben, from the returns of the 2nd quarter of 1862, I have found .69 and .58 caliber ammunition being requested. As for leathers, eh. I get the typical "6 cap pouches" and "24 cartridge boxes". That is about as specific as I have found. If folks have something to share, I'll be happy to see it! Believe me!
