  • Picket Post May 13-15,2016 Kentucky

Where: On private property near Morganton, KY. 300+ acres of pristine wilderness, rolling terrain, and fields.

    When: May 13-15 2016

Who: Sponsored by the WIG and Hairy Nation Boys.
CS forces will be commanded by Herb Coats.
Federal forces will be commanded by Ivan Ingraham.(one company of Hairy Nation Boys, one company of ONV and others
    )
Each side will have a 100 participant force cap with a goal of three Companies of 25 rifles each. We will also have cavalry for each side.

This will be an immersion campaigner event.

Cost: $20 ($10 for landowner stipend; dirt cheap, really, and $10 for food for the weekend).

Each participant will need 40 rounds and caps for the weekend and needs to bring two one-gallon jugs of water to establish water points within their area as the water on-site is not potable despite the numerous streams and ponds.

This is infantry force-on-force outpost duty.

    Full registration details to follow.

We are working on impressions at this time. TBA

Who is raising the third US company? If you don't have a name, I'm interested.

Really appreciate the enthusiasm and support thus far!

This will require quite a bit of logistics. For those who live close, we will conduct a site survey this summer. Any and all help is appreciated.

For now, however, get your FB pages set up and start thinking about what side (CS or Federal) you will take. This should be a pretty good opportunity for conducting soldier life along the line.

                More to follow, as always!

Folks, this is off to a good start. I ask that people interested in the Confederate portion of this event contact me directly. hcoats007 at gmail.com SO far I have two companies spoken for. Russ Dykes and Michael Comer are stepping up to fill out the command. Our guiding impression is the 9th Tennessee Infantry of Maney's Brigade. Myself and others will be posting historical information going forward regarding this command, where they came from, and the always fun, kit guidelines.

Thanks all, 2016 is looking good.

Ah, The Ninth Tennessee.. the Pride of West Tennessee.. They were organized from Fayette and Haywood (A,B,&L), Tipton (C), Hardeman (D&F), Shelby (E&I), Weakly (G), Obion (H), and Lauderdale (K) counties.

Jon, thanks for the links. I can't believe I had forgotten "Maney's Confederate Brigade at Perryville". I'm getting forgetful!

Those are great sources for the Picket Post, and for Perryville in October of next year.. Pro Tip: the WIG is putting a CS command together for Perryville as well, same unit on the actual battlefield. Not too often that we as "campaigners" portray the same unit in the same year.

Federal impression will be 21st Wisconsin
Confederate impression will be 9th Tennessee

Guidelines are being worked out at this time.

Yes, to piggy-back on Holler's post, my "crack" team of researchers and underlings are getting the CS guidelines straightened out.

Both sources that Jon posted arrived to my ranch over the weekend, they are really good places to start. Get um !
