  • Hardtack & Coffee at B&N, Columbus, Ohio

If anyone is looking for a copy of Hardtack and Coffee, the Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Easton shopping center in Columbus, Ohio, has a stack of hardback copies available for $6.98 apiece. I grabbed four on Tuesday evening, and there were still about five or six left.

If you're passing through, you might want to stop in.

I'm hoping that a few members of my unit won't take it personally when a copy of it arrives in the mail. :D

One of those books that probably should be required reading.....my copy is dog-eared from being loaned out and reread.

I just got 35 copies delievered to my school. I use it as one of the texts for the Civil War class I teach. Its a bit tough reading for some HS kids, but well worth while.

Wow, I wish my HS teachers would have done something like that. I hope they understand what a good resource they have at hand. My LA education was a bit under par in high school. I would have enrolled in a class like that in a heartbeat!

Yeah, my district is pretty cool. The kids will be going on a all day feidl trip in two weeks where they will be issued rations and cooking them, witnessing live artillery fire, and firing authentic arms with live rounds, under very controlled circumstances. It is a hell of an experience.

One of the best illustration captions ever.

I liked the copies I picked up - the print is large and dark, and the illustrations well-reproduced. Good, tough binding and covers. No one can claim the book wasn't easy or pleasant to read.

For me this book, with EofG, it is the Bible and the good base for a new member...
Later, there has McPherson, Mc Carthy, the life of reb and yank, fighting men, G.I. Series, the civilian war (time life), Lowry:tounge_sm:D , etc. etc. Etc. .....................

I AM rather jealous though...you got the hardcover edition for what I paid for the paperback at Half-Price Books..
