I bought the book after reading the endorsements here. I am only 1/2 through and am a little disappointed. Much of it has been good, however I think he has a couple of agendas he wants to prove. As has been posted, I think a researcher can make an assumption and go find resources to support the assumption. To speak plainly, it is the subject of slavery. He does a pretty good job tying in slavery but why quote a soldier about any other subject and say something like "Pvt. Joe Blow, a slaveholder, wrote home how awful the food was." So far, I get the impression he feels all the Confederates should have been put in a bag & thrown off a bridge when they were puppies. It's amazing how well they did, being the evil people they were.
