  • "Parking Lot" CW Re-enactment

Did anyone see the dreadful show last night called "Parking Lot"? It featured a "Civil War Re-enactment" They talk with the participants. It was at the Selma Event.
Boy you think the History Channels CW episode was scary, this topped it. Many candidates for Happy Friends. I believe it was really a totally different hobby than we are involved in!
My favorite quote was "This gives us an opportunity to play dress-up" .
Then there was the tubby officer (Lt. or Capt.), in front of his wall tent, stating that the soldiers ate hard crackers and pork and slept on only a blanket (with a hole in it no less!). Oh!!!! the hypocracy!!!!
There was a slight bash on hardcores too.
It seared my eyeballs!! I had vile dreams!!!
Will counseling help, or will I be a babbling loon?

    Re: "Parking Lot" CW Re-enactment

Must have been OLD footage........the military camps at Selma have been systematically cleaned out over the last few years, with some pretty hard feelings resulting all around-- and a much finer range of military impressions coming to the forefront.

Five years ago in mixed family camps I saw a two story canvas condo with bunk beds and innerspring mattresses.

Last year, I saw drenched shebangs, floating winter quarters, and a whole bunch of stand up guys who stayed the course. When rising waters forced us to move the well-concealed civilian camps to a high visibility area, the men moved quickly to re-position their various shebangs and such to attempt to disguise the heavier tentage used by the civilians. :D

This year promises a fine scenario, including a group of older civilian men impressed to defend the Confederate works, and an overwhelming force of Federals to send them running.

So, Sir, I imagine you shall live a full life and recover from your armchair experience. Though I must admit I'm still a bit shaken by the thought of that two story canvas condo....... ;)

      Crabby,

Hmm, it's hard to tell at this point. Did you take the day off of work? Don't worry, I know a counselor who specializes in "farbfest footage recovery" for babbling loons. I'll have him contact you. :p

I was rendered catatonic after I saw the 135th G-burg video tape. I was cross-eyed for months.

Speaking of "happy friends", anyone remember the address to the website?

The show didn't have a bunch of campaigners getting assaulted by Amy (she's one bad asss tattoo bitch!) and then retreating to camp to sing "Oh Baby YOu Got What I need" followed by a discussion about period drawers?

Yeah. Just saw that show, and boy am I ticked! I have never seen so many examples of powder burners and farbs in my life!!!! Here is a compilation of
the question and answers which I thought to be the worst:

Q:Is reenacting a good place to meet guys? A:Oh yeah.
Q:What's that on your belt? A:It's a bayonet. It's for running through guys
              if you're out of cartdriges.
Q:I got a gash on my leg from a hunting accident.......... when I take hits, I
pour ketchup in it and roll around.

I better stop before the memories of the show start making me cry again. :cry_smile

What should be real bad is the "Battle of Ceder Creek" that David Lettermen did in NYC. I thought it was the dumbest yet funny thing that night.
