  • Information on buttons

    Hi.
I purchased 28 South Carolian buttons a while back. On the back of the buttons is stamped Phila. Uniform and Conshonocken Pa., plus some other markings. They look real old and do not look modern brass. Can anyone tell me about them or if any have heard of the Company. I searched on line, but to no avail. I am going to try the lib. tomorrow to see if they have any information on the company, like when they went out of business. These buttons are still on the cardboard and have never been used.

    Thanks for any information.
    Sincerely,

    Re: Information on buttons

Don't know anything about the buttons but the town is spelled "Conshohocken". Hope that helps your searches.

      Re: Information on buttons

Are the buttons two piece or three piece construction? Do they look like officer buttons? If so, they are most likly post civil war. I have been looking for artifacts for over 30 years. The back mark sounds like they are post CW also. But, do not brake the buttons up. Keep them on the paper sheet. It is very hard to find the buttons on the sheets.
