Re: Unpublished J. B. Hood image?
I vote: NO
Look at the bottom of the questioned image. You can clearly see TWO legs. Hood had one leg amputated at the HIP after Chickamauga.
There is a strong similarity, but I still vote NO.PATRICK CRADDOCK

Re: Unpublished J. B. Hood image?
Well,
I would say that it is likely NOT Hood. Above all else, I base my position upon the obvious distinction vetween the neck sizes of the two images. The original image of Hood, in fact ALL of his images, show him with a fairly short neck. This ebay image shows a man with a rather long neck.

Re: Unpublished J. B. Hood image?
Also,
Hood had "sad brown eyes" as Michael Sharra put it [which you can see in the actual Hood image posted in the auction.] The "possible" hood image has very light eyes. Maybe he's wearing contacts? :sarcasticYours, &c

Re: Unpublished J. B. Hood image?
Random thought: J. B. Hood had two brothers. Assuming one or both survived to adulthood, it might be interesting to compare and contrast identified photos of them with this image.
