Metal Canteen Repair Help

I am having a problem with repairing 2 metal canteens with 3 strap clips in usual locations. I have had the clips break and need tips on what to use for new clips and what materials required to reattach them to the canteens after removing the cloth covers. I do have one repaired somewhat with cotton strap what this repair is only working temporarily. I would a more permanent fix.
