What is up with Ben Tart? Is he still in business? His website has been down forever (bentart.com) and he doesn't answer emails, etc. Does he have a new website and contact info that I just don't know about? If he's out of business, does anyone have another source for natural, undyed jean or cassimere?

Re: Ben Tart
Nic,
He's been away from home for weeks, what with two Gettysburg events and other committments. He's got fabric and finished goods--and likely a pile of orders to work down as well in the wake of both events.

Re: Ben Tart
He called in sick this morning (Monday the 14th) but says he'll be in tomorrow. I'll show him this thread when he comes in.
No, he is not going out of business--he is very much still in business as last week at Gettysburg shows. It's just that he does not like to answer many inquiries, and I can't blame him as it would be overwhelming if he tried.
Also I keep him chained to the grindstone as my minion here in the conservation lab.Spence Waldron~

Nic, I am still in business and business is very good. As a matter of fact I just took a large order from Pea Ridge Military Park this past Friday for osnaburg to make curtains for the Elk Horn Tavern. My phone number works (252-883-5374) and I do have undyed jean in stock. I "blew-up" my web site and I am working on a new one. If I don't answer just leave a message. I am using Spence's screen to calm the panic before it spreads to the general public.

Re: Ben Tart
Does anybody know what Mr. Tart is offering at the moment concerning fabrics? He has not updated his homepage for some time.

Re: Ben Tart
Ben,
Just give him a call. I talked to him last week about some fabric for a new project. That is the best way to find out what fabric is in stock and what new fabric is in the works.

Re: Ben Tart
Dirk,
Thank you. It is just that I am from Germany and a call to the States via a cell phone is not very cheap ...
Thing is I would like to know if he still has some logwood dyed fabric, which is hard to get by these days and seems to stay that way for some time to go.Bene von Bremen
