    Hallo Kameraden
    for members who are able to read German, I can send you a pdf copy of the Book " Von Achten der letzte" (The last of eight) from a German member of the Washington Atillery of New Orleans, published in 1871, transfered from sütterlin in our modern letters.
    ca 1 MB. The man tolds his story in the wartime. But only written "in Deutsch"

                  I am positively surprised how many of you are taking up the challenge to read this book in German! It was a really interesting view of a German on the other side of the line. I liked it very much especially the little annecdodes of daily life. You will enjoy it I am sure!
